Cletus Martin Pete Johannesmeyer, 88, of Freeburg, Mo, died Saturday, December 18, 2004, at Capital Region Medical Center. He was born on January 22, 1916 in Freeburg, the son of Herman Joseph and Mary Johanna Grellner Johannesmeyer. He was married on November 9, 1946 in Rich Fountain to Julia Lisetta Klebba who survives at the home. Mr. Johannesmeyer was a 1934 graduate and member of the first graduating class of Freeburg High School. Other survivors include five daughters and their husbands, Paralee and Ron Kloeppel, Freeburg; Nancy and Steven Maxwell, Freeburg; Cindy and John Purcell, Duluth, Georgia; Melody and Tom Buersmeyer, Westphalia; and Kay and Craig Fitzpatrick, Jefferson City; two sons, Stephan and his wife, Kathy, Johannesmeyer, Westphalia; and Jeffrey Johannesmeyer, Omaha, Nebraska; twelve grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four sisters. Hilda Stuecken, Iona Schwartze, and Evelyn Haller, all of Freeburg; and Frances Rudroff, St. Charles, MO; and one brother, Herman Johannesmeyer, Lees Summit, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Kyle Fitzpatrick; and one brother, Felix Johannesmeyer. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday, December 23, 2004, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Freeburg, with the Rev. R. William Peckman and the Reverend Sylvester W. Bauer officiating. Burial will be in Holy Family Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Wednesday, December 22, 2004, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Freeburg, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Additional visitation will be 10:30-11:30 a.m. Thursday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to American Diabetes Association, POB 1013, Columbia, MO 65205; American Heart Association, POB 1653, Topeka, KS 66601-1653; or Holy Family Catholic School, POB 156, Freeburg, MO 65035. He farmed in Osage County and was employed with the Osage County Agriculture, Stabilization, and Conservation Office for ten years. He retired in 1995 after thirty-nine years with the Bank of Freeburg. He served as a member of the Board of Directors for twenty-seven years and as President for thirteen years, currently serving as Vice-President at the time of his death. Mr. Johannesmeyer was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Freeburg; Msgr. Ralph Kutz Fourth Degree Assembly, Knights of Columbus; charter member of Msgr. Gerold Kaiser Council 9700, Knights of Columbus; and served on the Maries County Livestock Board for ten years.
