Clifford Joseph Schnieders, 90, of Jefferson City, passed away Monday, February 12, 2018, at his residence surrounded by his six loving children.
He was born December 17, 1927, in the Capitol City, the son of Peter Joseph and Clara Catherine (Adrian) Schnieders.
He attended St. Peter Catholic Grade School and was a 1945 graduate of St. Peter High School.
On August 26, 1950, he was married in St. Peter Catholic Church by Msgr. Vogelweid to Mary Marguerite Marge Haar who preceded him in death on February 25, 2017. They were married for sixty-six years.
Cliff worked hard all his life starting with helping his parents farm in the Cole Junction river bottom. He set, by hand, bowling pins in the old Selinger Center Bowling Alley, worked at Central Dairy, and the Coca-Cola Company. After high school he worked for Rost & Wallau, and soon after bought Rosts half of the business, renaming it Wallau & Schnieders Window Specialists. He co-owned and ran this business for over sixty years.
He was a member of the Cathedral of St. Joseph, Usher League, St. Joseph Cathedral Knights of Columbus Council 12992, and La Salette Retreat League. Cliff was one of the original Eucharistic Adorers at the parish. He could be found in the adoration chapel between 2-3:00 a.m. every other Sunday morning; then usually at 7 a.m. Mass as a loyal usher.
He enjoyed bowling, mushroom hunting, bird watching, attending fast pitch softball tournaments, and playing cards. He was very active in politics and was voted the Western District Judge of Cole County for two terms. His true passion was farming.
He was a good and giving person and a devoted family man.
Survivors include: one son, Daniel Schnieders, Overland Park, KS; five daughters, Loretta Swain, Bozeman, MT; Julie Dougherty, Kansas City, MO; Christie (John) Martin, Jefferson City; Lisa (Tim) Roberts, The Woodlands, TX; Gina (Tom) Pezley, Centertown, MO; 18 grandchildren, Kelly Grizzle, Kevin Swain, Angela Schlabach, Jenny Jamison, Matt Dougherty, Drew Dougherty, Heather Nilges, Brandon Martin, Leah Norment, Russell Roberts, Clifton Roberts, Zane Pezley, Seth Pezley, Malachi Pezley, Asa Pezley, Kateri Pezley, Hattie Pezley, Blaze Pezley; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, Bill Schnieders, Jefferson City; two sisters, Betty (Harry) Stauffer, Blue Springs, MO; Pat Neuner, Jefferson City; sisters-in-law, Beverly Schnieders, Jefferson City; Jeanne Schnieders, Jefferson City; two brothers-in-law, Denny Higgins, Jefferson City; Frank (Barbara) Haar, Lees Summit; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Paul (Mildred) Schnieders; Fred Schnieders; two sisters, Dorothy (Bill) Burkett; Ruth Ann Higgins; and two brothers-in-law, A. J. Neuner; and Theodore Bud (Kay) Haar.
Visitation will be 4-7:00 p.m., Friday, February 16, 2018, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a rosary and prayer service at 3 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Saturday, at the Cathedral of St. Joseph with the Rev. Msgr. Robert A. Kurwicki officiating.
Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the Vitae Foundation; Missionaries of Charity (Mother Teresa); or to Masses for the deceased members of the Schnieders family.
