Darryl Lynn Rimiller

Darryl Lynn Rimiller, 75, of Jefferson City, passed away Sunday, August 4, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Darryl was born April 23, 1949, in Rome, New York, the son of Carlton and Mildred (Scherz) Rimiller.

Darryl proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War in 1967/68.

He was united in marriage for 53 years on August 21, 1971, in Dixon, Missouri to his loving wife Sharlene Ann Brown who survives at their home.

Darryl owned and operated J.C. Tuckpointing Company for over 30 years. Beyond his professional endeavors, he found joy in spending time with his beloved sons and grandchildren, especially while in the great outdoors.

Darryl’s life was enriched by his intrinsic curiosity and interest in learning new things. From becoming a pilot in his 30’s, to studying firearm reloading and ballistics, learning about cooking and smoking fine meats, and constantly improving his knowledge of hunting and fishing. Most recently Darryl enjoyed learning about habitat management on the farm, how to weld, operate farm equipment and stocking the family lake with fish.

Darryl’s life was devoted to learning and pursuing his numerous interests. When those endeavors brought him closer to his family, they were the most important to him. His legacy is not only one of hard work, high character and a learning spirit, but also an appreciation for the simple pleasures that life had to offer. A cup of coffee in the morning with his sons, a deer he encountered on one of his million drives through Binder Park, or a kind gesture from a stranger at the grocery store.

Of all the things that Darryl exhibited throughout his life, his greatest quality was just being himself. If Darryl was anything, he was uniquely himself…always! As Ralph Waldo Emerson famously said, ‘To be yourself, in a world that is constantly trying to make you someone else, is life's greatest accomplishment.” To that definition, no one has ever accomplished living a better life than Darryl Rimiller!

Survivors include his wife, Sharlene Rimiller, Jefferson City; four sons, Derrick (Jennifer) Smith, Westville, NJ; Michael (Jennifer) Rimiller, Monroe, NC; Matt (Stephanie) Rimiller, Jefferson City; Eric (Teri) Rimiller, Orange County, CA; nine grandchildren, Avery Rimiller, Elise Rimiller, Kalyn Rimiller, Linsy Rimiller; Rylee (Zachary) Carl, Baylor Rimiller, Ashtyn Rimiller, Ethan Rimiller, Grant Rimiller; and three sisters, Shirley Aderman, Philadelphia, PA; Patricia Canon, Palatka, FL; and Brenda Nase, Syracuse, NY.
