David Joseph Collins, 33, of Jefferson City passed away Tuesday, December 5, 2023, in Manhattan, Kansas.
He was born April 5, 1990, in Columbia, Missouri, the son of Leonard Scott Stone and Valerie Ann Collins.
A 2009 graduate of Linn High School, David earned an Associate Degree in Applied Science from Linn State Technical College.
David was currently employed as a Light and Sound Stage Technician for Loud Productions in Topeka, Kansas. He previously worked for Jefferson City Manor, ABB in quality control, Missouri Department of Correction as a correctional officer, and a pharmacy technician at Schnuck’s Grocery all in Jefferson City.
He enjoyed reading, playing video games, Anime, and comic books. In more recent times, David enjoyed horticulture, landscaping, nature walks, and baking. His greatest joy was his daughter, Madora, whom he loved being with, especially when they were cooking. He facetimed his daughter every night.
Survivors include his daughter, Madora Marie Collins, Bourbon, Missouri; his father, Leonard Scott (Susan) Stone, Manhattan, Kansas; and his mother, Valarie Ann Collins (Mike Zimmer), Linn; two brothers, Corey Drew (Nicole) Kennedy, Wichita, Kansas; and Leonard Nathaniel Stone, Jefferson City; paternal grandmother, Gladys Martha Stone, Palmers, Kansas; step grandmother, Carol M. Collins, Jefferson City; step grandparents, Urban and Betty Zimmer, Westphalia; aunts and uncles, Daren (Michelle) Collins, Jefferson City; Martha (Jim) Hornbostel, Palmer, Kansas; and D.J. (Rick) Lottman, Choctaw, Oklahoma; step brother, James (Danielle) Spain; step sister, Kimberly Spain (fiancé Brett Lavender); a nephew, Leonard Michael Stone, Jefferson City; and his former wife whom he married March of 2020, Courtney Ann Barker.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Leonard Nathaniel Stone and maternal grandparents, Ronald Wayne and Ethel Marie Collins.
Visitation will be 2-4:00 p.m., Thursday, December 14, 2023, at Trimble Funeral Homes with a funeral service at 4:00 p.m.

There are no words to express how sorry I am. I wish I had the right words. The family is in my thoughts and prayers. David was such a huge part of my life, from band to living together after having my oldest. He was such a sweet, caring guy who was taken away too soon. Fly high and keep watch over everyone down here. Love you big bro.
