David John Raithel, 70, of Russellville, passed away Monday, March 23, 2020, at St. Mary’s Hospital.

He was born November 27, 1949, in Jefferson City, the son of the late Alvin John and Marcelline Christine (Stratman) Raithel.

He was a 1968 graduate of Helias High School and attended Lincoln University.

David served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam era.

On November 8, 1980, in California, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Linda Sue Korte, who preceded him in death on September 17, 2015.

David spent his career in construction, specializing in concrete. He worked for fifteen years with his uncles at Stratman Construction Company. In 1987, he started the Raithel Brothers Construction Company with his brothers. He served as President until his retirement.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting, woodworking, and spending time on the family farm with all his family.

Survivors include two sons, Nick (Cindy) Raithel, Vienna; Brandon (Courtney) Raithel, Taos; four grandchildren, Emma Raithel, Henry Raithel, Kaden Hodges, Tucker Raithel; six siblings, Emily Raithel, Jefferson City; Doug (Debbie) Raithel, Lohman; Kevin Raithel, Russellville; Christine (Larry) Gerstner, Rocky Mount; Brenda (Joe) Weidinger, Vienna; and Carl Raithel, Jefferson City; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Linda.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 30, 2020, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Russellville with the Rev. Msgr. Robert A. Kurwicki officiating.

The general public is welcome to attend the services while following social distancing guidelines. Please sit 6 feet apart and avoid close contact. Those attending are asked to wear personal masks and other personal protective equipment while in attendance. Disposable mask will be provided by Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Homes.

Memorials are suggested to the family of David Raithel for the benefit of his grandchildren’s future educational needs.

Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Homes in Russellville is in charge of the arrangements.
