DEBORAH DORCAS DEVOL BURKHART

Deborah Dorcas DeVol Burkhart, 71, of Eldon, Mo., died Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009, at St. Marys Health Center, Jefferson City.
She was born on March 18, 1938, in Norton, Kans., the daughter of the late Werner John Frederick Heuer and Rosa Frieda Louise Stobbie Heuer. She was married on Aug. 26, 1956, in Beatrice, Neb., to Ralph Robert DeVol who preceded her in June, 1992. She was later married in 2001 at Lake Ozark. Mo., to Harry Burkhart who preceded her in 2007. A graduate of Beatrice (Neb.) High School, Mrs. Burkhart was employed as a loan manager for various financial institutions through the years. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Eldon, and enjoyed quilting, knitting, gardening, and painting.
Survivors include one daughter, Annette Sue Layne and her friend, James Dean, of Harrisonville, Mo.; two sons, Scott A. DeVol and his friend, Judy Hiatt, Marysville, Kans.; and Michael P. DeVol and his wife, Yvonne, of Eldon, Mo.; three grandchildren, Andrew DeVol, Shannon DeVol, and Rosa Marie Layne; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Dolly Searcy and her husband, Duane; and Netty Grimm and her husband, Art, all of Beatrice, Neb. She was preceded in death by twin grandsons; and one son-in-law, Richard Layne.
