He was born in St. Louis to Leonard Hebert Steimel and Gertrude Mary Henke Steimel. He was married on January 12, 1963 in Cahokia, Illinois to Ethel Frances Anchell who survives at the home. Other survivors include two sons, Phillip L. Steimel, St. Charles; and John J. Steimel, Jefferson City; two daughters, Sharon A. Crocker, St. Martins; and Susan M. Steimel, Jefferson City; four granchildren; two brothers, Raymond Steimel, Florissant; and Dennis Steimel, Troy; and two sisters, Barbara Roberts, Palm Bay, Florida; and Sandra Rust, Wright City. He was employed as a first pressman with Von Hoffman Press, Inc. Jefferson City, for forty-three years. Memorials are suggested to Capital Projects, Inc., 2001 E.
