Dorris Mae Morris, 75, of Jefferson City, died Thursday, March 16, 2006, at Beverly Health Care Center. She was born on June 2, 1930 in Jefferson City, the daughter of Elmer Lee and Leora Mae Jamerson Harris. She was married on June 7, 1951 in Jefferson City to Amos D. Morris, Sr. who survives at the home. Mrs. Morris was a 1948 graduate of Lincoln Lab High School and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics from Lincoln University in 1955. She was employed as an elementary school teacher at Douglas School in Columbia; served as a librarian with the Boone County Library; and worked for Family Services in Columbia and Jefferson City. She taught Home Economics at Bloomington (IL) High School and at Lincoln Lab School; was a teller at Central Trust Bank; worked for the Media Center at Lincoln University where she also served with the Nutrition for Aging program. She was an active member of Second Baptist Church where she had served as a youth director and was past president of the Womens Missionary Union. She was past president of the Bloomington Public Library Board; past president and life member of Alpha Theta Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority; and past Worthy Matron of Boone Chapter 87, Order of Eastern Star. She was currently serving as president of the District WMU and chairman of the Foreign Missions State Convention. She was a member of the Lincoln Alumni Association and immediate past secretary of the Jefferson City Community Center, Inc. Other survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Patreece Reece, Berkley, MO; and Sylvia and Michael Ferguson, Jefferson City; one son and daughter-in-law, Amos Dalton and Mary Jane Morris, Jr., Pittsburgh, PA; nine grandchildren, Jermaine Reece; Michael Reece; Katrina Reece; Jennifer Ferguson; Joshua Ferguson; Jared Morris; Derek Morris; Aubrey Morris; and Dalton Morris; five great-grandchildren, Jabril Reece; Michael Reece, Jr.; Brianna Reece; Derrick Morris; and Jaisa Morris; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother, Elmer Lee Harris, Jr. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, March 23, 2006, at Second Baptist Church with the Rev. Cornell C. Sudduth, Sr. officiating. Burial will be in Longview Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 22nd, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home.
