Edna Claire Wachter, 89, of Jefferson City, died Saturday, September 21, 2008, at St. Marys Health Center. She was born on August 9, 1919, in Jefferson City the daughter of John Henry and Caroline Zimmerman Skain. She attended Mt. Hope School, Immaculate Conception Grade School, and was a 1937 graduate of St. Peter High School. She was united in marriage on April 19, 1952, in Jefferson City to Paul Joseph Wachter who preceded her in death on April 4, 1996. Edna was employed with Division of Employment Security for the state of Missouri from 1940-1982. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, St. Anns Sodality, Immaculata Club, St. Marys Auxiliary for 24 years, American Legion Auxiliary, Daughters of Isabella Glennon Circle 322, Red Hat Society, Meadow Lake Acres Country Club, and a past member of the Business and Professional Womens Club. Survivors include: one sister, Margaret Machens, Peoria, Il.; several nieces and nephews; and numerous great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three sisters, Helen Skain, Mary Skain, Juliet Sturm; and two brothers, John J. Skain, and Dr. Richard P Skain. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 24, 2008, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. Patrick G. Dolan officiating. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
