October 19, 1930 ~ July 3, 2008
Elizabeth Ann Betty Rackers, 77, of Jefferson City, was called home to the Lord on Thursday, July 3, 2008. Betty was the first born of seven children to Joseph H. and Josephine M. Rackers Pleus. She was proud of her rural upbringing in Taos, Mo., and that her birth in 1930 and graduation from high school in 1948 happened in the same building. She grew up on her familys farm. On June 6, 1953, in Taos, Betty was united in marriage to Stanley L. Rackers who survives at the home. She was a homemaker, wife, and mother who was devoted to her children and grandchildren. In her early life she worked at the Missouri Department of Welfare and later worked part-time at Buschs Florist. When Betty and Stanley were first married, they lived in Oceanside California while Stanley served in the Marine Corps. They moved to Wichita, Kan., for two years, and then settled back in the Jefferson City area where they raised their family on a farm on Bald Hill Road. Betty enjoyed gardening, growing flowers, cooking for her family, walking, and dancing. She also enjoyed attending Little Theater productions, exploring her familys history, visiting and assisting elderly friends and relatives, as well as working for the rights of the unborn. Betty was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Immaculata Club, St. Anns Sodality, Daughters of Isabella, and the church quilting group. Other survivors include: two daughters and two sons-in-law, Kathy and Bob Wibberg and Susie and Steve Komaromi, all of Taos; five sons and their wives, Dennis and Rhonda Rackers, Houston, Texas; Kenny Rackers, Colorado Springs, Colo; Roger and Lori Rackers, Bonnots Mill, Mo.; Steve Rackers, Creve Couer, Mo.; and Vic and Eileen Rackers, Jefferson City; nineteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and six brothers and sisters, Bernard Pleus, Gerald Pleus, and Millie Bernskoetter, all of Jefferson City; and Mary Lee Roberts, David Pleus, and Leon Pleus, all of Taos. She was preceded in death by her parents. Mass of Christian Burial will be 2 p.m. Monday, July 7, 2008, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Entombment will be in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday, July 6th, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to Masses in her memory, Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Vitae Caring Foundation, Birthright, or to the Alzheimers Association.
