Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Welch
November 16, 1930 ~ July 1, 2019
She was born November 16, 1930, in Jefferson City, the daughter of the late John and Hilda (Bernskoetter) Cortvrient.
She was united in marriage on May 30, 1953, in Rich Fountain to Harold Joseph Welch who preceded her in death on October 25, 2008.
Betty worked for International Shoe Company before deciding to stay at home and raise her children. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, enjoyed gardening, cooking and participating in a competitive card or Yahtzee game. But most of all, she cherished her time with family.
A woman of great faith, she was a member of the Cathedral of St. Joseph and the Ladies Sodality. Betty devoted time and talent, and gave unselfishly of her life to family, friends, church and community. Her love was deep, unconditional and genuine. She raised a family full of love and respect, teaching by example, and always with a smile.
Survivors include her eight children, Ron (JoAnn) Welch, Papillion, Neb.; Don (Sarah) Welch, Jefferson City; Pam (Gary) Bradley, Blue Springs; Bev (Shawn) Cunningham, Jefferson City; Marilyn (Bruce) Casten, Lohman; Gregg (Sia) Welch, Abu Dhabi; Amy (Dan) Asahl, Weldon Spring; Dawn (Todd) Wilhelm, Fenton; 23 grandchildren, Stacia Jarzobski, Ryan Welch, Jenna Kleine, Lauren Sears, Tricia Hall, Matthew Welch, Bryan Welch; Crista Beckhaus, Cara Hollmann, Erica Dollich, Chris Cunningham, Mackenzie Casten, Madelyn Casten, Nicholas Casten, Lucas Welch, Isabelle Welch, Ben Asahl, Bailey Asahl, William Asahl, Adeline Wilhelm, Harrison Wilhelm, Ryland Wilhelm; 22 great-grandchildren, Katelyn Jarzobski, Alexis Jarzobski, Kensie Jarzobski, Gracelyn Welch, Ryder Welch, Dawson Welch, Nora Welch, Kai Welch, Harbor Welch, Luna Welch, Brady Hollmann, Katherine Hollmann, Tayler Mathes, Addison Mathes, Ella Mathes, Brooks Dollich, Parker Dollich, Jane Jones, Claire Jones, Graham Jones, Elizabeth Beckhaus, Thomas Beckhaus; one sister, Dorothy Lamb, Jefferson City; one sister in-law, Helen Welch, Jefferson City; and one brother-in-law Don (Dorothy) Welch, Jefferson City.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Harold Welch; her grandson, Jeremy Jones; two brothers, infant Jamie Cortvrient and Jerome Cortvrient; and three brother-in-laws, Melvin Lamb, John Welch, and Bob Welch.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday, July 5, 2019, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home in Jefferson City with a prayer service at 3:15 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Cathedral of St. Joseph with the Rev. Stephen Jones officiating. Entombment will be in Resurrection Mausoleum.
Memorials are suggested to Hospice Compassus or to the Cathedral of St. Joseph.
