Elizabeth Victoria "Betty" Hiesberger, 91, of Jefferson City, passed away on Saturday, March 19, 2005, at St. Joseph Home for the Aged in the capital city. A native of Kansas City, she was born on Aug. 29, 1913, the daughter of Herman Francis and Elizabeth Fitzgerald Nitsche. A graduate of St. Agnes Academy in Kansas City, MO, she was married on Dec. 28, 1936, to Anton August Hiesberger, a native of Weppersdorf-St.Martin, Austria. He preceded her in death on May 10, 1983. Betty and her husband founded Modern Litho-Print Company and pioneered the photolithographic printing process in Missouri. Betty is survived by three sons and their wives, Tony and Tem Hiesberger, Jefferson City; Dr. John J. Hiesberger, Columbia, MO; and Michael and Manuella Hiesberger-Madrone, Aosta, Italy; two daughters and their husbands, Judith Ann and Tom Vaillancourt, Goshen, New York; and Jean Marie Hiesberger and Dr. Robert Heyer, Kansas City, MO. She was a loving grandmother to four grandchildren; one step-grandson; two great-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren. Two step-grandchildren preceded her in death. During her life Betty volunteered for many causes. Beginning as a Den Mother for Pack 6 Cub Scouts of Immaculate Conception Parish, she assisted at the parish school during her childrens years of attendance. Following her familys move to St. Josephs Cathedral Parish, she volunteered extensively in the community, serving St. Peters Parish Vogelweid Learning Center; Meals on Wheels; Legion of Mary; and St. Marys Health Center gift shop. She was recognized as an honorary life member of St. Marys Health Center Auxiliary. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2005, at St. Joseph Cathedral with the Rev. Jeremy A. Secrist officiating. Entombment will be in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 22nd, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 8 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Helias Foundation, POB 694, Jefferson City, MO 65102-0694; or to a charity of the donors choice.
