He was born in Westphalia to Ben H. Schlueter and Rose Schwieterman Schlueter. He was married on January 17, 1948 in St. Louis to Alice Grace Bardol who died on March 20, 2002. Survivors include two sons, James J. Schlueter, Jefferson City; and Donald E. Schlueter, Springfield; two daughters, Dr. Janis S. Beacham, Olathe, Kansas; and Barbara A. Bleazard, Wildwood; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, James A. Schlueter, Bradenton, Florida. He was a member of the Cathedral of Saint Joseph; Westpahlia American Legion Post 544; Veteran of Foreign Wars; Disabled American Veterans; and the Naval Cryptologists Veterans Association. Memorials are suggested to St. Joseph Home for the Aged, 1306 W. Main Street, Jefferson City, MO 65109; or the American Cancer Society, 1932 Mohawk, Jefferson City, MO 65101. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a 1938 graduate of Westphalia High School and attended Washington University. He retired in 1982 as Chief Accountant with the Missouri Public Service Commission where he had been employed for thirty-six years.
