Erin Lea (Shiery) Blaise, 47, of Jefferson City, formerly of Columbia, passed away surrounded by loved ones, Wednesday, November 1, 2017, at her residence.
She was born February 20, 1970, in Ames, Iowa, the daughter of Stephen Alan and Julie June (Hoy) Shiery.
She was united in marriage on October 5, 2007, in Columbia, to Daniel Allen Hood who survives at the home.
Erin was a 1988 graduate of Jefferson City High School and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English from the University of Missouri in 1991. In addition, she received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from MACC and WGU in 2014.
A realtor with Re/Max for twenty years, Erin was most proud of her work as a registered nurse for the past three years.
Erin was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
An artist at heart, Erin enjoyed painting but dabbled in all media. She loved all animals, providing care and comfort to many older pets. Her favorite hobby was remodeling houses with her husband, Dan. Erin was a whip-smart, compassionate, and giving wife and daughter. She was always available to help those in need and never afraid to stand up to anyone for what she believed. Always up to the challenge of pursuing her dreams, her creativity and beauty showed through in everything she accomplished.
Survivors include her husband and her parents.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Owen Russell Shiery.
A memorial service will be held 6:00 p.m. Sunday, November 5, 2017 at First United Methodist Church in Jefferson City with the Rev. Karen Taylor officiating.
Visitation will be held 4-6:00 p.m. Sunday, November 5, 2017 at First United Methodist Church.
Memorials are suggested to Jefferson City Animal Shelter, 2308 Hyde Park Rd., Jefferson City, MO 65109.

I am so sorry to hear of the death of your loved one. Though, I never met Erin, I am a realtor and have known Steve and Julie for many years. Knowing them as kind and compassionate individuals, I am sure Erin was also like her parents. Prayers for all of you.

RIP Erin! Although we never met, we share many loves and ambitions that make us kindered hearts. I too am a REALTOR with REMAX. for 12 years RN Registered nurse since 1981, I too love animals. Erin was a good friend to my sister, Stacy. I know she struggled long and hard to try to overcome her illness. My condolences to her family, and may she finally rest in peace.
