Ernest Wiley Green, 93,of Taos, died Thursday, September 13, 2007, at St. Marys Health Center. He was born on Dec. 8, 1913, in Jefferson City, the son of Sterling Price and Myrtle Coulter Green. He was married on Nov. 15, 1958, in Jefferson City, to Carmelita Louise Markway who survives at home. Mr. Green was employed with the Tweedie Shoe Factory for 33 years; Gordon Sound Company for 30 years; and Algoa Reformatory for 18 years. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Taos; past president of Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 2693; and was the first Fire Chief with Taos Volunteer Fire Department with whom he served for 19 years. Other survivors include: one daughter, Betty D Lovins, Wheatland, MO; one brother, Norman Green, State of California; and one half-sister, Rita Mae Sapp, Coffeeville, KS. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Sterling Leon Green and Ralph Green; and one sister, Marjorie Hall. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, 2007, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Taos, with the Rev. J. David Maher officiating. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Taos. Visitation will be 9-10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 15th, at the church.
