Ethel Marie Bruning, 102, of Jefferson City, passed away Saturday, June 22, 2019, at St. Joseph Bluffs.

She was born December 4, 1916, in Moniteau County, the daughter of the late Walter Benjamin and Sarah Johanna (Buersmeyer) Bruning.

Ethel was a 1934 graduate of St. Peter Catholic High School.

Ethel worked for Martin Wunderlich Company, U.S. Department of Agriculture, and for Missouri Power and Light as an auditor for over 40 years.

She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church.

Ethel volunteered for many years at St. Mary’s Hospital and was a member of the St. Mary’s Auxiliary; the Red Hatter’s Society; and a 20 year member of the Medjugorje prayer group.

Survivors include several extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Melvin Bruning, Arthur Stampfli, and Wilbert Stampfli; and her sister-in-law, Louella Stampfli.

Visitation will be 9-10 a.m. Friday, June 28, 2019, at St. Peter Catholic Church.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Peter Catholic Church with the Rev. Jeremy Secrist officiating.

Burial will be in St. Peter Catholic Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to St. Peter Catholic Church for Masses.
