Florence Ratchford

October 28, 1936 ~ April 2, 2021
April 2, 2021, Good Friday, to go home to be with the Lord.
Flossie, as she was known by those who knew and loved her, was born October 28, 1936 in Patton, PA to the late Elmer and Louise (Buck) Dietrick. On April 18, 1959, Flossie married James Ratchford in Patton, PA. Whether it was being a “chef”, sewing, cross stitching or crafting, Flossie loved spending time with her family including her grandchildren. In her free time, she enjoyed playing Bunco and Dominos, and visiting with the ladies in her Red Hat Society. One of her favorite pastimes was going boating and fishing with Jim. Flossie loved to host crab feasts with her friends and family and dinners featuring her favorite East Coast scallops and crabs. Flossie was a member of the Cathedral of St. Joseph and took comfort in praying the rosary. Her kindness and loving heart, reflected in her smile and eyes, will be greatly missed.
Survivors include her three children; Louise Borrelli of San Diego, CA, Lynn Ratchford (Guy Krause) of Jefferson City, MO; Louis Ratchford of Fairfax, VA; two grandchildren, Michaela and Benjamin Krause; two brothers, Robert (Marjorie) Dietrick of Greensburg, PA, William (Joanne) Dietrick of Houtzdale, PA and a sister, Janet Yuknavich of Patton, PA. Flossie was preceded in death by her husband, James, “Jim”, on October 20, 2011; brother, Lewis Dietrick; sister, Delores Dietrick; and brother-in-law, George Yuknavich.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 8 2021 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, 3210 North 10 Mile Dr., Jefferson City. My favorite memories of Flossie is when she played with all the grandkids in the pool in Cypress Landing, and of course playing Mexican Train at Christmas with all her family, Rest In Peace Beate
Dearest Flossie’s Family, Flossie was one of our shining lights in N.C at Cypress Landing,,,always with that sweet smile and gentle manner. However, don’t be fooled, she had a great and sometimes wicked sense of humor. We have missed her since she left Cypress Landing, but I know she was happy to be closer to family. She loved you folks so much. I know for sure that she and Jim are brewing up a new batch for the Lord right now, and He will surely enjoy every sip. God be with you. love, Nannette Smyre
I remember her laughter, sense of humor and love of life! Rest in peace my friend. Sue Fish
I remember Flossie as so kind and fun to be around. Always ready to share memories and stories of raising her kids as well as a beer. Having a dog named Trouble fit her perfectly. May you find comfort knowing she is at peace and reunited with Jim. Janet Roberts
I remember Flossie for her warm glowing smile and humor. Always enjoyed speaking with her after Mass at Mother of Mercy. She was a delightful conversationalist. I’ve missed our waving to each other as she walked her dog here in Cypress Landing. She and Jim left wonderful impressions for me to remember. Both were loyal members of Mother of Mercy….Jim being a dedicated altar server. May you, the family, be embraced with God’s compassion, love, and mercy during this difficult time. Peace be with you, Ruth Cauvin
With deepest sympathy, my thoughts and prayers are with you.
Of the many things I remember about Flossie was 1) her quick wit and great sense of humor and 2) the love she always exemplified for her family- Jim, Louise (Cricket), Lynn and Louie were her world and she gave them all her love and devotion. She will be greatly missed.
With deepest sympathy to the Ratchford family. Love Paul Cover, Paul Salamone and Ira Faden
Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Much love, Marvin and Lewis
Flossie was such a special person and we will miss her. We have so many special memories of our family vacations together, family reunions and just anytime we were able to visit each other. She was always the life of the party and made those visits full of fun, laughter and love. It was always a real treat whenever she cooked one of those gourmet meals. Get- togethers always included foods, drinks, and card playing. She was a ray of sunshine and we are heartbroken, but are comforted knowing she and Jim are together again. Cricket, Louie, and Lynn you have our deepest sympathy and our thoughts, prayers and love are with you. Bill and Joanne Dietrick
