Francis Henry “Fritz” Verhoff, 76, of Westphalia, passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at Capital Region Medical Center.
He was born on May 9, 1950, in St. Louis, MO, the son of Zeno Conrad and Elizabeth Christine (Baumhoer) Verhoff.
Fritz was a 1968 graduate from Fatima High School, later graduating from Linn Tech with an associate’s degree.
He was united in marriage to Linda Loethen at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church – Jefferson City, on September 17, 1977, recently celebrating their 49th wedding anniversary.
Fritz owned and operated Fritz’s Auto Body Shop in Westphalia.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Sons of the American Legion.
Fritz was an outdoorsman’s and enjoyed fishing, working in his big garden, raising chickens, and butchering hogs, and beef. He had a passion for stock car racing and drove his own car and was a Nascar official for Capital Speedway. He enjoyed drinking PBR and Stag Beer.
Survivors include his wife, Linda; sisters and brothers-in-law, Judy (Gary) Tripp, Rosemary (Richard) Heidbreder, Connie (Steve) Boeckman, Mark (Laurie) Loethen; his special niece, Shelley (Kevin) Richter; many nieces and nephews. His lifelong friends Doug and Alvin Bexten
Fritz was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be 4:30-6:30 p.m. Monday, September 28, 2026, at Trimble Funeral Homes – Westphalia with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at St. Joseph Catholic Church – Westphalia, with the Rev. Dylan Schrader officiating.
Memorials are suggested to St. Joseph Catholic Church or St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
