Gary Rackers, 67, of Jefferson City passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2024 at home surrounded by his family.

He was born July 5,1957 in Jefferson City to the late Wilbert and Kathleen (Duncan) Rackers.  Gary grew up on the family farm in Osage Bend and was a graduate of Blair Oaks High School.  On October 22, 1988, Gary married Mary Reynolds at St. Margaret of Antioch Catholic Church, Osage Bend.  Together they raised their two children, Cole and Caitlin.  Gary began his career with the Union Pacific Railroad traveling throughout the Midwest working to maintain hundreds of miles of railroad track.  Returning to his true love of working outdoors, he started his own business, Greenleaf Nursery.  His new business included planting large trees and bushes, landscaping, mowing, snow plowing and brush-hogging.  Gary was a man who was never one to sit still.  When he did find some free time, he enjoyed fishing and traveling in his RV around the southern Midwest.  Gary served his country as a member of the National Guard.  He was also a member of the Jefferson City Elks Lodge #513.

Survivors include his wife; Mary, his son; Cole (Stephanie) Rackers of Russellville, his daughter; Caitlin (Jonah) Luebbering of Osage Bend, three grandchildren; Josie and Della Luebbering and Lydia Rackers, mother-in-law; Margaret Reynolds of California and brother-in-law; Dennis Sandbothe of Jefferson City.  He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Donna (Robert) Klepak and Gail Sandbothe.
