GORDON LEE BRYAN

Gordon Lee Bryan, 69, of Jefferson City, died Friday, May 5, 2006, at St. Marys Health Center. He was born on Aug. 25, 1936 in Jefferson, IA, the son of Verle O. and Frances Cole Bryan. He was married on July 6, 1963 in Cedar Rapids, IA to Connie Kay Kimble who survives at the home. Mr. Bryan was a 1954 graduate of Jefferson (IA) High School, and received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 1958 from the University of Iowa. He was employed for eight years as a Cost Analyst with Collins Radio Company, Cedar Rapids, IA, on the Apollo Space Program. From 1971 to 1979 he was owner-manager of the Montgomery-Ward Catalog Store in Fairfield, IA. With his friend, Phil Laux, he was co-owner of All-American Pest Control in Fairfield, IA and Osage Beach, MO from 1978 to 2002. He had also served for several years with the Iowa National Guard. He was a member of Saint Joseph Cathedral, Jefferson City. Gordon was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He was a hard worker who had many good friends. He was well-known for his great sense of humor and his story-telling. He also enjoyed reading, gardening, keeping current on politics, going to auctions, and sports (especially Iowa Hawkeye football). Other survivors include one daughter, Sara Jayne Bryan-Von Gunten and her husband, Lawrence, Jefferson City; two sons and their wives, David and Karen Bryan, Overland Park, KS; and Michael and Yadira Bryan, Ft. Lauderdale, FL; four grandchildren, Jacob Bryan Von Gunten and Jessica Lauren Von Gunten, both of Jefferson City; and Jennifer Bryan and Jack Bryan, both of Overland Park, KS; one brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Lois Bryan, Phoenix, AZ; and one sister, Diane Rae, Olympia, WA. He was preceded in death by his parents. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 9, 2006, at St. Joseph Cathedral with the Reverend Jeremy A. Secrist officiating. Burial will be in Westview Cemetery, La Porte City, IA. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Monday, May 8th, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Samaritan Center, 1310 E.
