Hattie Vernell Hawkins, 85, of Jefferson City, died Thursday, May 31, 2007, at Villa Marie Skilled Nursing Facility. She was born on June 9, 1921, in Wainright, MO, the daughter of Allen Clyde and Myrtle Reynolds Hawkins. She graduated from Madam C.J. Walker Cosmetology School in Kansas City. Ms. Hawkins owned and operated Your Beauty Bar in Jefferson City for many years. She also was employed as a clerk at the Missouri Department of Revenue for twenty years until her retirement. She was a long-time member of Mt. Vernon Missionary Baptist Church, Holts Summit, serving as church secretary for several years. Survivors include one brother and sister-in-law, Albert J. and Viola Hawkins, Jefferson City; three nieces and their husbands, Shirley and William Perry, Grandview, MO; Renee and Shawn Kelly, Spring Hill, KS; and Penny Hawkins, Jefferson City; seven nephews and their wives, Delroy and Anna Hawkins, St. Paul, MN; Stanley Hawkins, Jefferson City; James Hawkins and his significant other, Jodi Nelson, of Lincoln, NE; Fredrick Tilford Hawkins, Raytown, MO; Larry and Bonnie Britt, Jefferson City; George Hawkins, Columbia, MO; and Craig and Kelly Hawkins, Jefferson City; two step-nieces, Carolyn Connor and Janice Watson; two step-nephews, Phillip Wayne Connor and Earnest Connor; and a host of cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant sister; and one nephew, Paul Allen Hawkins. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, June 4, 2007, at Mt. Vernon Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Gordon Coleman officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Vernon Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Sunday, June 3rd, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the Mt. Vernon Missionary Baptist Church Building Fund.
