Helen Joretta Niekamp, 87, of Jefferson City, died Thursday, July 19, 2018, at Capital Region Medical Center.

She was born on January 30, 1931, in Jefferson City, the daughter of the late Martin and Irene Nilges Stuart.

She was married on November 12, 1949, in Jefferson City to Willie Niekamp who preceded her in death on May 6, 2005.

A 1949 graduate of Jefferson City High School, Mrs. Niekamp was employed with the Missouri State Highway Department; Missouri Department of Revenue, Missouri Conservation Federation of Missouri, and Missouri Savings and Loan League.

She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, Perpetual Adoration Society, Funeral Luncheon Committee, and was a past president of the Missouri State Womens Democratic Club.

She is survived by five children, Connie Welschmeyer, Jefferson City; Michael (Vicky) Niekamp, Wardsville; Thomas (Diane) Niekamp, Wardsville; Mark (Barbara) Niekamp, Holts Summit, Mo.; and the Reverend Philip Niekamp, Moberly, Mo.; eight grandchildren, Eric (Laura Frahm-Welschmeyer) Welschmeyer; Scott (Marcia) Niekamp; Jenni Welschmeyer; Michael Douglas (Beth) Niekamp; Christopher (Melissa) Niekamp; Andrea (Christopher) White; Jonathan Niekamp; and Benjamin Niekamp; eleven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruby Zimmerman and Sylvia Larkin.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 23, 2018, at St. Peter Catholic Church with the Rev. Philip E. Niekamp officiating.

Entombment will be in Resurrection Mausoleum.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Sunday, July 22nd, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 4:30 p.m.
