Henry Obermark, 96, formerly of Jefferson City, passed from this life on Saturday, March 7, 2009, in Syracuse, New York. He was born October 5, 1912, in Linn, Missouri, the son of Frank Henry and Regina Voss Obermark. He was one of nine children. He lived for fifty years in Jefferson City and was a regular communicant of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church as well as a member of the Mens Sodality and the Knights of Columbus. He worked for many years as a farmer in Linn, Missouri. After moving to Jefferson City, he worked at Obermans Manufacturing Company and later for Obermans Warehouse. He has lived for the last twelve years in Syracuse, New York, with his daughter, Gerardine Clark, a professor at Syracuse University. Those who knew him will remember him as an unusually kind and generous man, a consummate story-teller and grower of the worlds best tomatoes. He is survived by his daughter Gerardine Clark (clarkgm@syr.edu), Syracuse, New York; and two grandchildren, Katharine Clark Gray and Jessica Anne Clark, of Philadelphia. He was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Margaret Schmidt Obermark. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 14, 2009, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. Benjamin Nwosu officiating. Entombment will be in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum. Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorial donations are suggested to the Save The Children Fund; or to the charity of the donors choice.
