HERBERT FRANCIS BLUME

Herbert Francis Blume, 91, of Jefferson City, died Friday, Dec. 15, 2006, at his residence. He was born on Oct. 15, 1915, in Jefferson City, the son of Herbert E. and Katherine E. McMichael Blume. He was married on Jan. 14, 1941, in Taos, MO to Helen Johanna Bode who survives at the home. A graduate of St. Peter High School, Mr. Blume was a grocer for many years in Jefferson City and owned and operated Blumes Market until retiring in 1973. A U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, he was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church; Perpetual Adoration; Legion of Mary; Knights of Columbus; and American Legion. He enjoyed his family, lake home, and fishing, and especially enjoyed making rosaries for schools, Legion of Mary, and Nursing Homes. Other survivors include five sons and their wives, Herbert and Dianne Blume, St. Louis; David and Mary Blume, Simsbury, CT; Mark and Joyce Blume, Jefferson City; Kenneth and Patty Blume, Jefferson City; and Jeff and Susan Blume, Jefferson City; fourteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Mary McKinney, Jefferson City; and Genevieve and Delbert Doc Benton, Chicago, IL; and two sisters-in-law, Pauline Blume, Jefferson City; and Lois Blume, Hurst, TX. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Paul Blume, Tony Blume, and Jack Blume. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2006, at St. Peter Catholic Church with the Rev. Msgr. Donald W. Lammers officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 18th, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Memorials are suggested to St. Peter Catholic Church, 216 Broadway, Jefferson City, MO 65101; St. Marys Hospice, 100 St. Marys Medical Plaza, Jefferson City, MO 65101; or a charity of the donors choice.
