Herman Adolph Veit, 82, of Jefferson City, died Sunday, April 28, 2002, at Beverly Health & Rehabilitation Center. He was born on February 12, 1920 in Cole County, the son of Adolph Frank Veit and Katherine Anna Poetker Veit. He was married on June 20, 1942 in Los Angeles, California, to Mary Ann Steck who survives at the home. Other survivors include a daughter, Jerilyn Louise Hanlon, Menlo Park, California; a granddaughter, Leah Johnson, Burbank, California; and a sister, Mary Schwarzer, Jefferson City. Services will be at 12 noon on Wednesday at St. Martin Catholic Church. The Rev. Edwin A. Schmidt will officiate. Entombment will be in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum. Visitation will be 10-12 noon Wednesday at the church. Memorials are suggested to St. Martin Catholic School, 7206 St. Martins Avenue, Jefferson City, MO 65109. Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. He retired as a Tool Planner with Lockheed Aircraft Corporation where he had been employed for thirty-eight years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of St. Martin Catholic Church; American Legion Post 5; Fraternal Order of Eagles Aries 2693; National Rifle Association; fifty-year member of the International Association of Machinists & Aerospace Workers Lodge 727C; and a life member of St. Martin Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 35.
