Herman C. Kempker Jr., 86, of Jefferson City, MO passed away November 10, 2024, in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 27, 1938, in Folk, MO to Herman Sr. and Agnes (Hake) Kempker. On August 23, 1958, Herman married Marilyn Schmidt at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Jefferson City.
Herman is a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather; he was also a home builder, excavator and farmer. Herman and his wife Marilyn owned and operated Herman C. Kempker Construction, Excavating and Trucking Inc. and Single K cattle farms for over 40 years. He bowled over 10 years with his father-in-law Alfred Schmidt and his son Gary Kempker Sr. Herman was an avid hunter, fisherman, farmer, gardener and enjoyed the outdoors. He was a member of Cathedral of St. Joseph and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles AERIE 2693. Herman was also a member of the National Builders Association where he was in the NAHB Spike Club. He was instrumental in bringing the Central Missouri Builders Industry Association (CMBIA) to Jefferson City Area with two other colleagues which is now known as the Jefferson City Area Home Builders Association (HBA) where he was past president and received the golden hammer award.
Herman is survived by his wife of 66 years Marilyn (Schmidt) Kempker, his children; Pam (Kempker) Buschjost, Sandy Kempker, Gary Kempker Sr. (Mary Kay), Sharon Kempker, Gregg Kempker (Robin), Trish Rockers (Phil), Curt Kempker (Melissa). His grandchildren Brandie Frank (Jason), Kelli (Buschjost) Vanderpool and Megan Buschjost, Amy, Erica and Colby Wallendorf Sr.; Gary Kempker Jr. (Jessica) and Ambrosia Kempker; Tawnya Schmitz (John); Holli Lockwood (Matt), Kayla Mantle (Jordan) and Breanna Connor (David); Jessi Kempker (Zack), Dakota Libbert (Rebecca), Bryar and Lexi Boeckmann; Madison, Camryn and Hudson Kempker. His great grandchildren Jacob and Allison Frank; Bentlee and Elijah (Buschjost) Lepper: Ryver and Zephyr Newman; Aurora, Colby Jr., Everlee and Clyde Wallendorf; Gavyn and Hailey Kempker; Ronnie and Romann Jaegers and Emmalynn Schmitz; Emeri Wilson and Rylee and Knox Lockwood; Daxon Mantle; Kaylyn, Levi, Liam and Charlee Kempker; Paityn, Triniti, Josie and Brynlee Libbert, sister; Laurentia Wenzel, brothers; Floyd (Helen) Kempker and Leonard (Marilyn) Kempker, sisters-in-law; Janice and Rita Kempker and a brother-in-law; Alfred (Bonnie) Schmidt. He was preceded in death by his grandchildren Audrey Lage and Brody Kempker; his brothers Alfred Kempker, Anthony Kempker (Lorine), Lloyd Kempker (Barbara) (Emily) and Lester Kempker, brother-in-law Arnold Wenzel.
Visitation will be from 8:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at Trimble Funeral Homes, 3210 N. Ten Mile Dr., Jefferson City. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the Cathedral of St. Joseph. Father Stephen Jones will officiate. Entombment will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to the American Sudden Infant Death Syndrome Institute or the Alzheimer’s Foundation.

My sincere condolences. I’ll never forget this kind gentleman, and his company’s hard workers who helped me break ground on both my homes built in Osage County starting at age 19. Also, the donations of equipment, fuel, and manpower on projects I helped with at St. Joseph School & Westphalia KofC kid’s playground.
What a great family he has raised and taught well. Surely his greatest legacy.
