James Henry “Jim” Patten, 82, of Jefferson City, passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at Jefferson City Manor Care Center.

He was born January 23, 1937, in Freeburg, the son of the late Edward P. and Catherine (Singer) Patten.

He was a 1956 graduate of Fatima High School.

James served his country in the United States Army.

On October 28, 1961, in Argyle, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Mary Louise Brunnert who survives at the home.

James worked for United Telephone Company (later Sprint). He started as a lineman and was an installer at the time of his retirement in 1998.

He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Holy Name Society and IC’s Dream Team.

James enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, gardening, fishing, mushroom hunting, playing cards, and he loved eating anything sweet. He was a passionate St. Louis Cardinals and Mizzou basketball fan.

Other survivors include his children, Jeffrey (Anne) Patten, Metairie, Louisiana, Lisa (David) Wolken, Marc (Lisa) Patten, Kristi Hixson, all of Jefferson City; nine grandchildren, Derek Patten (fiancée Rachel), Jamie (Courtny) Patten-Bivalacqua, Darrell (Jessica) Wolken, Stephanie (Eric) Weiler, Brian Patten (fiancée Nikki), Clay Patten, Ashley Patten, Chandler Patten and Haley Hixson; seven great-grandchildren, Trenton Wolken, Jackson Wolken, Charles Wolken, Dominic Wolken, Colson Weiler, Daxton Weiler and Carter Bivalacqua; one brother, Roman (JoAnna) Patten, Jefferson City; three sisters-in-law, Aggie (Virgil) Struemph, Gertrude (Charles) Schwartze, Judi (Jack) Crede; and a brother-in-law, John (Mary Ellen) Brunnert.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother and sister-in-law, Linus & Alice Patten.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Sunday, January 26, 2020, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home in Jefferson City with a prayer service at 3:30 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday, January 27, 2020, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jefferson City with the Rev. Donald Antweiler officiating and Deacon Kenny Wildhaber assisting.

Entombment with military honors will be in Resurrection Catholic Mausoleum.

Memorials are suggested to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Immaculate Conception Catholic School, or to the Parkinson’s Fund.
