James Joseph Rehagen, 85, of Jefferson City, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at Stonebridge Oak Tree Villa.

He was born April 13, 1939, in St. Elizabeth to John and Matilda (Lindenbusch) Rehagen.

James was united in marriage to Carolyn (Schulte) Rehagen in Mary’s Home on July 28, 1962, who preceded him in death on September 27, 2023.

James served his country in the Army Reserves from 1957 to 1963.

He worked for the Jefferson City Ford Dealerships as a mechanic from 1964 until his retirement from Mike Kehoe Ford in 2004. He was also employed at the Missouri Highway Patrol from 2006 until 2016.

James was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church and Holy Name Men’s Association. He was also a member of Mary’s Home Knights of Columbus.

He was one of the founding members of the Brazito-Honey Creek Lions Club. James took great pride in the Lions Club. He spent many hours caring for the grounds and barbequing and preparing food for the club’s fundraisers. In his younger years, he enjoyed attending his children’s ball games, helping coach their teams, or umpiring games at the Lions Club ball field.

James loved to barbeque. Many of his Sundays were spent around the grill, listening to a Cardinals ball game, or just spending time with his family.

James is survived by his five children, John (Gina) Rehagen of Eugene, Gregory (Michelle) Rehagen of Henley, Mary Lynn (Philip) Wieberg of Argyle, Jeanne (Rex) Buechter of Mary’s Home, Laura (Frank) Kirkley of Eugene, thirteen grandchildren; Katie, Matt, Hannah, Sarah, Paul, Jacob, Adam, Maggie, Jimmy, Alison, Rachel, Jeremy, Megan; twenty-one great grandchildren; sibling, David (Mary) Rehagen and one sister-in-law, Julie Rehagen.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, grandson Jared, siblings; Leonard Rehagen, Norbert Rehagen, Alverna Buechter, Bernice Schulte, Arnold Rehagen and Edward Rehagen.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at Trimble Funeral Homes – Jefferson City with a prayer service at 4:30 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, November 21, 2024, at St. Peter Catholic Church with Rev. Msgr. Robert A. Kurwicki, VG officiating.

Burial with military honors will be in Our Lady of Snows Catholic Cemetery in Mary’s Home at 1:30 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to St. Peter Catholic Church or to Our Lady of Snow Catholic Cemetery.
