James Roman Cassmeyer, 89, of Jefferson City, passed away Thursday, October 3, 2024, at his residence.

He was born July 29, 1935, in St. Louis, the son of Robert John and Clara Theresa (Tillman) Cassmeyer.

He was united in marriage on February 20, 1960, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church to Margaret Dolores Forck who survives at their home.

He was a 1953 graduate of Fatima High School.

Jim served his country in the United States Army.

Jim worked for the State of Missouri Employment Security, Central Electric Power Co-op, and later was the owner and operator of JC Data Services, retiring in 1998. He enjoyed golfing throughout the years, doing odd jobs on the farm, and spending time with family and friends. In his younger days he spent many a Sunday afternoon pitching baseball in the Osage League as well as Ban-Johnson and the Jeff City Redbirds.

He was a former member of St. Joseph Cathedral and a current member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church as well as a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret; four children, Kristie (Robert) Heumann, Mendon, Massachusetts; Kevin (Lisa) Cassmeyer, Taos; Jeff (Julia) Cassmeyer, Jefferson City; and Scott (Susan) Cassmeyer, Taos; ten grandchildren, James (Kelly) Heumann, Daniel (Ashley) Heumann, Ashton(Naman) Patel, Jennifer Heumann, Robyn(Justin) Eiken, Melissa(Joey) Svoboda; Kellen Cassmeyer, Jordan(Felipe) Garcia, Stefan Cassmeyer, and Tyler(Aleah) Cassmeyer; and 12 great grandchildren; and sister-in-law Carol Hake and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Robert Cassmeyer and two sisters, Rosella Bax and Mary Ellen Olive, brothers-in-law Jerome Forck, Bob Bax, Bill Olive, and Bill Hake; and sister-in-law Wilma Forck.

Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at Trimble Funeral Homes – Jefferson City with a prayer service at 3:30 p.m. An additional visitation will be from 9-10 a.m., Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in St. Thomas with Father Mark Porterfield officiating.

Burial with military honors will be in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery in Taos.

Memorial donations are suggested to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Helias Catholic Foundation, or to Hospice Compassus.
