Jean Elizabeth Carel

She was born July 3, 1928, in Jefferson City, Missouri, the daughter of the late Victor William and Hilda Alvina (Swanson) Brondel.
She was united in marriage on November 8, 1949, in St. Martins to Raymond Herman Carel who preceded her in death on March 3, 2015.
Jean worked for Tweedie Shoe Factory for five years before becoming a loving homemaker to her family. She was a wonderful seamstress who made many wedding dresses and other clothes. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, baking, playing pitch with family and neighbors, watching the St. Louis Cardinals, and most of all spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include seven children, Shirley (Larry) Schwarzer, Centertown; Donnie (Dorothy) Carel, St. Martins; Nancy (Rick) Hart, Russellville; Doug (Julie) Carel, Jefferson City; Keith (Janet) Carel, St. Martins; Terry (Sue) Carel, Centertown; Mike (Cara) Carel, Russellville; 22 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Ann Wilbers, Jefferson City.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 65 years; two sons, Thomas Carel and James Carel; one grandson, Zachary Carel; two great-granddaughters, Gimma and Sydney Carel; five sisters; and seven brothers.
Private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Martin Catholic Church in St. Martins with the Rev. Stephen Jones officiating.
Burial will be in St. Martin Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the St. Martin Catholic School.

Aunt Betty was special when I was little and spent time at your house. She was kind enough to make the jacket for Gary and “little Mike” for our wedding. You are all in our prayers.

Aunt Betty was an amazing woman she made all of my bridesmaids dresses and helped alter my wedding dress.When I was a kid I remember Aunt Betty and uncle bud coming to mom and dad’s house and playing pool.She will be missed by us all.
Aunt Betty was a talented seamstress. She made bridesmaid dresses for me along with other “nips and tucks”. Always had a sweet laugh! Hope you can find peace and comfort in the memories.
To my cousins so sorry for the loss of your sweet momma. She is now with Uncle Bud and happy. Condolences to all the family. Lifting aunt Betty up in prayers.
