Jeanette H. Walters
December 10, 1939 ~ July 1, 2024
Jeanette H. Walters, 84, of Holts Summit passed away on Monday, July 1, 2024 at Summit Villa surrounded by her family.
She was born December 10, 1939 in Hebron, NE to the late Delbert and Ethel (Baker) Miller. Jeanette grew up in Harvard, NE where she graduated from Harvard High School. She went on to beauty school and although she did not work as a beautician, Jeanette did many home perms and haircuts for family with her hair always being perfect.
Jeanette met Ron Walters on a blind date. They met when a group of boys from Sutton went to Harvard to hang out with a group of girls. Initially Jeanette did not want to go, but she knew he was the one when he got out of the car and opened the door for her. On July 24, 1960 Jeannette married Ron in Harvard. She raised a loving family that will miss her deeply. After living in Nebraska and Iowa they settled in mid-Missouri. Jeanette worked at Popp’s Garden Center, Missouri Dept. of Revenue and retired from Memorial Hospital.
She loved her flower gardens and looked forward to getting her seed catalogs in the mail, placing her order early to be delivered at the right time for planting. Jeanette also had an artistic talent doing paintings, art projects, and interior decorating. She was a great cook with her specialties being baked ham, lasagna, macaroni and cheese and baking Viola’s sugar cookies and decorating them with the grandchildren at Christmas. Jeanette also made the BEST cinnamon toast when the grandchildren stayed overnight.
Survivors include her daughter; Cheri (Ron) Landers, two sons; Todd (Julie) Walters and Scott (Julie) Walters; 7 grandchildren, Amie (Nate) Suttenfield, Megan Landers, Colin Walters, Kelly Walters, Jennifer (Daniel) Sanchez, Ashley (Mohammad) Qasem, Emma Walters; 17 great-grandchildren; sister Pat (Mike) Kelley and half-brother Denny Mathiesen. She was preceded in death by her husband; Ron, step-father; George Mathiesen and two sisters-in-law; Shirley Wach and husband, Larry and Susie Mathiesen.
The family will have a celebration of life at a later date.
We would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Summit Villa for their loving care going above and beyond and to Phoenix Hospice Care.

Jeanette was always a wonderful person, friend , mother and grandmother.I am so happy we met as babies and continued through her life. Love from Bill and Mary
Living next door, as kids , she was like a second Mom. The Walters resident was the neighborhood happening hangout for all the kids. She definitely had her hands full at times. She will truly be missed dearly. A true gem of a lady !!!
.
The Mathiesens lived in our neck of the woods, growing up. I looked up to Jeannette and Patty. They were good role models. I loved going over there, on Saturday mornings, just to visit. I thought the girls were gorgeous.
My parents were good friends with George and Ethel.
I have no doubt Jeannette was a good mother and grandmother.
My heart goes out to Jeanette’s loved ones. She and Patty were great classmates at Harvard High School. Twenty-four of us graduated together in May 1959. We celebrated our 65th year as alumni in May 2024. Jeanette is the tenth member to continue her journey from this earth but she is forever in our hearts.
