Jennie Lee McDougal

February 7, 1931 ~ April 5, 2022
She was born February 7, 1931, in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of the late Norman L. and Mary Ellen Greene Tilson.
She graduated from Central High School in Kansas City, Missouri in 1948.
She married Joseph Clifford McDougal on November 24, 1948. He preceded her in death on November 11, 1995. The family moved from Kansas City to Jefferson City in June of 1968.
She was employed at Mattingly’s on High Street in the late 60’s and Veit’s Restaurant in the early 70’s and then at the Cole County Sheriff’s Department for twenty-six years, retiring in 2003.
After retiring, Jennie joined the Catholic Church and taught RCIA classes at the Cathedral of St. Joseph for many years. She enjoyed playing cards in which she played to win, going on trips with her friends, going to plays and shows, and listening to country music. Against her wishes her daughter bought her a kindle that she immediately loved and carried with her everywhere. Watching the recent TV series, Yellowstone, was the highlight of her week and she would talk about each episode until the next one.
She is survived by her daughter, Sue Barnes, Jefferson City; a son, Michael (Barbara) McDougal, Sr., Jefferson City; five grandchildren, Jason (Jane) Barnes, Michelle (Andy) Vercelli, Michael McDougal, Jr., Sara (Bob) Wheeler, and Joseph (Christy) McDougal; and eleven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded by her husband; three sisters, Lorene Head, Madge Holland, and Evelyn Jean Smith; two nephews, Stephen Holland and Craig Liles; and two nieces, Sandy Williamson and Norma Head.
Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 8, 2022, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

Dear, sweet Jenny, I enjoyed our years working together at Cole County. You were always so nice and helpful. You and Joe even babysat my son a few times when the weather was bad. You loved your family and always put them first. Rest in peace Jenny, you will always be loved and missed.
Sue; Please accept our deepest heartfelt sympathy for your mother’s passing. May she rest in God’s loving arms forever. May the good Lord be with her family & many friends as they will think of her often. God Bless Us All.

Thank you, Joe and Aileen. She is pain-free and at peace. I miss her so much.
Sue….It is all good…..you & I had our moms for a very long time….we were lucky…..our classmate (Doyle Russell) lost his mother when he was 5…..Doyle told me his teacher had to take little Doyle up to the 6th grade where his older brother was in order for Doyle to quit crying. God Bless Us All.
Allen Bret We were former classmates and I’m so very sorry for your loss. I lost my mother to and I never stop thinking about her. When I think of all the good she taught me and the laughs we had together, it’s kind of like she still lives on in my heart. I hope to see her again without all the heartache and pain in a better place. Take good care Sue. You will heal!
