Jerene Margaret Cockerill, 83, of Jefferson City, died Saturday, June 20, 2009, at her residence. She was born on January 24, 1926, in Jefferson City, the daughter of Emil August Maier and Frieda Alvina Sauer Andres and step-father Raymond H. Andres. She was a graduate of California High School where she was the salutatorian. She was united in marriage on August 10, 1946, in Rockville, MD, to Lavern Sidney Cockerill. He preceded her in death on April 18, 2007. Mrs. Cockerill worked for the Mo. Department of Conservation as a film librarian. Early in her life she worked for the Pentagon in Washington D.C. Survivors include her long-time caretakers and friends, John and Jeanne Mueller, Jefferson City; their children, Stephanie Pantaleo and her husband Jarrod; and Amber Mueller. Several cousins and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 24, 2009, at the Evangelical Cemetery in California, MO, with Rev. Mark A. Dumas officiating.
