John Howard Christie, 82, of Jefferson City, passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2018, at Oak Tree Villas.
He was born March 29, 1936, in Jamestown, Kansas, the son of the late Buford Raymond and Florence Gertrude (Ensign) Christie.
A 1954 graduate of Simpson Kansas High School, John also attended Kansas State and Fort Hays University.
He was united in marriage on August 4, 1956, in Asherville, Kansas, to Marcia Gwen James, who resides at the home.
John was a manager for Farmland Co-Op, retiring in March 2001. Prior to his Farmland career, he was a farmer in Mitchell County, Kansas.
He was a member of the Dalhart and Wagoner Baptist Churches. An avid bowler, he participated in national tournaments and also enjoyed playing golf. Wherever they lived, he was very active in his church, community, volunteering for the fire department, CASA, and Conservation Department. Jack was the organizer and charter member of the Asherville Volunteer Fire Department and the primary and charter board member of the Rural Water District in North Central Kansas.
Survivors include his wife, Marcia; five sons, Kenneth Alan (Lorene) Christie, Pineville, LA; Lynn Dean (Melanie) Christie, Jefferson City; Sheldon Lane (Tammy) Christie, Wagoner, OK; Dwight Donald (Deborah) Christie, Mentor KS; Jay Charles Christie, Tulsa, OK; twelve grandchildren, Aaron Christie, Terrel Christie, Michael Christie, Jeffrey Christie, Elyse Wrigley, Kaylee Christie, Madison Christie, Tanner Christie, John Christie, Brooke Christie, Caleb Christie, Seth Christie; and four great-grandchildren, twins, Peter Christie and Penelope Christie, Gaia Christie, and William Wrigley.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Donald Clark Christie, Robert Earl Christie, and William Henry Christie.
Visitation will be 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 21, 2018, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will follow at 10:30 with the Pastor Creighton Cox officiating.
Interment of ashes will be at a later date in Scottsville Cemetery, Scottsville, Kansas.
