John Joseph Zito, 86, formerly of Westphalia, Mo., died Friday, November 22, 2013, at Charlevoix Health Care in St. Charles, Mo.
He was born on June 10, 1927, in St. Louis, Mo., the son of the late Leonardo and Frances Costa Zito.
He was married on September 30, 1950, in Westphalia to Mary Louise Rehagen who preceded him in death on December 16, 2002.
Mr. Zito was retired from the Meco Company in St. Louis where he had been employed for thirty-three years.
He was a United States Army veteran of World War II.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Westphalia, and the Westphalia Senior Citizens Club.
Mr. Zito was a brother-in-law, cousin, uncle, great-uncle, great-great uncle, and friend to everyone he knew.
Survivors include three sisters, Genevieve (Peter) Caleca, Fort Myers, Florida; Phyllis (Albert) Flury, Chesterfield, Missouri; and Marie (John) Winders, Spring Branch, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Bess (Paul) Feise and Madeline (Larry) Breslin.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday, November 25, 2013, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Westphalia, with the Rev. Mark S. Smith officiating.
Burial with military honors will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Westphalia.
Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Monday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Joseph Catholic School, P.O. Box 205, Westphalia, MO 65085-0205.
