John David “Jack” O’Donnell, Sr., 92, of Jefferson City, passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born October 6, 1931, in St. Louis, the son of Edmund Anthony and Florence (Markham) O’Donnell.

A 1951 graduate of Webb School in Bell Buckle, Tennessee, Jack attended Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., St. Louis University and Forest Park Community College.

He was united in marriage on June 1, 1957, in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada to Mildred Louise “Micky” Rump who preceded him in death on February 24, 2016.

Jack was a chemical laboratory technician for Reichhold Chemical Corporation, Valley Park, Missouri, retiring on January 1, 1994.  In earlier years he worked for Falstaff Brewing Corporation in St. Louis, Missouri.

He was a member of the Cathedral of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where he was an active Eucharist Minister; Legion of Mary, Knights of Columbus, and volunteered at the Samaritan Center.

Jack was a very spiritual man and attended daily Mass   He enjoyed photography using slides, woodworking, and gardening.  He and Micky loved to treat the grandchildren to trips to Elderhostel’s and had many happy times with them.

Survivors include four sons, John David (Ida) O’Donnell, Jr., Jefferson City; Peter (Carolyn) O’Donnell, Wooster, Ohio; Ed O’Donnell, Kansas City; and Ted O’Donnell, Jefferson City; seven grandchildren, Kelly (Michael) Piatek, Lauren (Andrew) Wolff, Corinne (Bryan) Brewer, Hunter O’Donnell, Mallory O’Donnell, Libby O’Donnell, and Roan O’Donnell; four great-grandchildren, Alexander Piatek, Robert Piatek, Graham Wolff, and Paige Wolff; and one brother, Jim O’Donnell.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Micky, and two sisters, Ruth (Otto) Schwarz, and Nancy (George) Whitelaw.

Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday, November 2, 2023, at Trimble Funeral Homes with a prayer service at 3:30.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 3, 2023, at the Cathedral of St. Joseph with the Rev. Joseph Luzindana celebrating.

Burial will be at 3:00 p.m. Friday, November 3, 2023, at the Calvary Cemetery & Mausoleum in St. Louis, Missouri.
