Joseph John Horstdaniel, 82, of Westphalia, died Saturday, January 21, 2006, at St. Marys Health Center. He was born on May 28, 1923 in Westphalia, MO, the son of Herman and Mary Hagenhoff Horstdaniel. He was married on May 12, 1948 in Westphalia to Virginia Mae Wiegers who died on Feb. 4, 2005. Mr. Horstdaniel was employed as an Oil Jobber with Sun Oil Company for forty-nine years until his retirement on Sept. 30, 1995. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Westphalia; Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2693; Westphalia American Legion Post 544; and Roy Sone Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1003. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Melissa A. and David Hartmann, Barnhart, MO; two grandchildren, Clark David Hartmann and Grant Joseph Hartmann; one brother and sister-in-law, Lawrence and Barbara Horstdaniel, Jefferson City; and one brother-in-law, Sylvester Bud Redel, Jefferson City. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Frank Horstdaniel; Ferdinand Horstdaniel; and Frederick Horstdaniel; and three sisters, Dorothy Hartung; Ann Niebuhr; and Marie LaPointe. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2006, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Westphalia, with the Rev. Philip M. Kane officiating. Burial with military honors will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Westphalia. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 23rd, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, Westphalia, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Memorials are suggested to St. Joseph Catholic Church, POB 116, Westphalia, MO 65085.
