Juliana “Julie” (Reinkemeyer) Buschjost, 85, of Wardsville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on May 19, 1938, in Argyle, Missouri, to Lawrence and Anna (Steinman) Reinkemeyer. She grew up on the family farm in Argyle, one of ten children. She attended Renneke Country School, helped to care for her siblings, and worked on the family farm. At an early age, she also worked at the Brown Shoe Factory. 

On October 27, 1962, Julie was united in marriage at St. Aloysius Church, Argyle, to Leonard (Roundy) Buschjost. After living briefly in Jefferson City, they moved to Wardsville, building a home on the Joe Buschjost Family Farm. Eventually, after Joe’s passing, she and Leonard purchased the family farm, and there they raised their five sons. She always said that the boys were able to do so much to help with the family farm, but “sure created a lot of dirty laundry.” She was a proud Farmwife, a loving Mom, fabulous cook, gardener, farm bookkeeper, and canned the bountiful harvests of her huge garden, apple and pear orchards, and strawberry patches. She was truthfully the hardest working member of the family. She always had delicious homemade bread, pies, or cakes ready for the boys when they came home from school. She made sure they ate every meal as a family, whether that was at the kitchen table or in the hayfield. She enjoyed time with family and friends, dancing, vacationing, quilting, both at home and with the St. Stanislaus Quilting group, reading, and watching the many activities of her grandchildren. Her first thought was always of others. 

Along with her many activities on the farm and at home, Julie showcased her cooking talents alongside Margaret Woehrer as a wedding caterer, and at Popp’s Catering. After Leonard’s early death, she also worked for several years at Dillard’s. She was a devout Catholic, attending weekend and weekday masses at St. Stanislaus, attending Perpetual Adoration, and ensuring that all her sons attended St. Stanislaus Catholic School and Helias Catholic High School. She was a member of the Ladies Sodality, Over 50 Club, Eagles Club, worked many funeral meals at St. Stanislaus, and was a board member of the Osage Senior Center. 

She is survived by her sons Dale (Karen) Buschjost; Mark (Jackie) Buschjost; Brad (Michelle) Buschjost; and Jason (Wendy) Buschjost, all of Wardsville; daughter-in-law Vicky Buschjost, Jefferson City; 14 grandchildren, Chris (Michelle) Buschjost, Alex (Mercedes) Buschjost, Emily (Jeremy) Rowland, Sarah Buschjost, Dalton Buschjost, Justin (Cassidy) Buschjost, Garrett (Samantha) Buschjost, Melissa (Brendan) Roberts, Brody Buschjost, Cadie Buschjost, Jacob Robertson, Sydney Robertson, Griffin Buschjost, and Jacie Buschjost; 7 great-grandchildren, Blakely Buschjost, Bella Buschjost, Bexley Buschjost, Duane Cooper Rowland, Sawyer Rowland, Georgia Rowland, Roman Roberts, and Rayne Roberts; four sisters; Mary Meinhardt, Dedie Otke (Dick), and Rose Dulle (Ralph), all of Jefferson City, and Liz Grosso (Tony) of Reno,Texas; brothers-in-law, Donald Huhman and Gary Lock; and sisters-in-law, Margie Struemph and Gladys Lehman, all of Jefferson City. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard; son, Duane Buschjost; Grandson, Baby Leonard Dale Buschjost; three sisters, Georgena Huhman, Geraldine Lock, and Genevieve Juergensmeyer; infant brothers Wilfred and Joseph Reinkemeyer; brothers Jerome Reinkemeyer, and Marvin Reinkemeyer; brothers-in-laws, Leroy Buschjost, Victor Buschjost, Bernard Lehman, August Struemph and Felix Juergensmeyer; sisters-in-laws Margaret Reinkemeyer, Marcella Reinkemeyer, Betty Jean Buschjost and Marie Buschjost; and special friend Harold Bax. 

Visitation will be from 3:00-6:00 p.m., Friday, February 16, 2024, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Wardsville with a prayer service beginning at 2:30 p.m.   Visitation will resume at church on Saturday beginning at 9:30 a.m. with the Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Msgr. David Cox will officiate.  Burial will follow in the St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery.  

Memorials may be made to K of C #8399 Building Fund or the Helias Catholic High School Spirit of Excellence capital campaign.
