TO THE FAMILY:I am so sorry to hear about Ken’s passing. My deepest sympathy for your loss. You all are in my thoughts and prayers. I worked with Ken at Dept of Revenue when he worked there part-time. He was a BIG joy to work with everyday, he sat in the cube behind me and used to throw rubber bands/paper clips over into my cube. He kept me going throughout the day, knowing Ken there was never a dull moment. He was a very sweet and special man & friend and had a wonderful sense of humor and he will be deeply missed. He also met my two Aunts when they were in St. Mary’s hospital when he volunteered there. He would have them laughing so hard when he visited them. He would brighten their day when he visited them. Ken enjoyed putting a smile on anyone’s face. Let God guide you through this difficult time and the memories of him ease the pain and live in your hearts forever. I know the memories will be in mine.God Bless you all,Julie LienekeCo-worker, Dept of Revenue
What a character… and legacy. I guess well mostly remember Ken BBQ’ing in a shelter (or in the rain)… aproned… with a smile on his face and a beer in his hand. I’ll miss the sarcastic wisdom he always threw at me over the years (usually after a surprise punch in the arm). What a fellow… and what a friend! He’ll be missed.
I am an old time State Parks employee and remember Ken fondly. He was in charge of the parks side and Booker Rucker was in charge of the historic sites. I am a historic site manager and did not know Ken well but often heard abouthim. Sometimes a lightening rod, he had alot of influence in State Parks.
Pat & Barry – My sincerest sympathy to you and your family. Ken was one of the greatest bosses that I had the privlige to work with. May the memories that you shared provide comfort to you today and always.
I was so sorry to hear. My prayers go out to You & your family. He could make you laugh on a bad day at work. And always had a joke to share. He was always a hard worker and never forgot you, by bringing you a cookie. Ken will always stay in my thoughts & prayers. He was one of our best volunteers. Peace be with you.
Pat, I always enjoyed Ken when we worked together. He was a good guy and always lots of fun. My condolences to you and Barry.
My deepest sympathy to you the Oidtman family. I am an RN at St Mary’s ER. Mr Oidtman will be deeply missed. He always personally delivered a scripture cookie to me each Wednesday. He was so bright and cheery, I for one from St Mary’s will miss him. I just thanked him for being such a great St Mary’s volunteer just a few weeks ago. God bless you his family. Becky Buchholz, ER RN from St Marys Health Center
Pat, Barry, Tami and Family:I was shocked to just learn of Ken’s passing. My deepest condolences to all of you. Ken was an amazing friend and collegue for so many years in the State Park System. He was always a great supporter of me and I will never forget that. There are none more knowledgeable than you of the unpredictability of Ken and the huge heart he had for others. That is how I will remember Ken, fondly. My prayers are for your peace and acceptance of this loss. My love to you. ~ Arne
Pat, After our phone conversation I thought you’d like to know my oldest son Bryce said he remembered working with Kenny at Gerbes & that he just waited on Kenny at Scruggs earlier this past week!
I started with Missouri State Parks as an Assistant Park Superintendent. The first thing we were required to do was attend a week long “Central Office Training” in Jefferson City. One of the first people I met was Ken Oidtman (known to us in the field as KO). I realized that this man had a love and passion for his job, serving the citizens of the State of Missouri. This was in August 1973. His passion and love of the job rubbed off on me because I am still working for Missouri State Parks. If you had a question you could always go to KO. You would always get an answer, maybe not the one you wanted, but you always got an answer. Thank you KO, God speed.Brent L. Steacy, Superintendent, Thousand Hills State Park

It’s with a heavy heart that I send my condolences. Ken and I, as usual, were kiding and teasing each other just this past thursday when he’d come around the emergency room bringing us the “faith cookies”.
