Laverne M. (Linsenbardt) Popp, age 88, of Blue Springs, MO passed away on Sunday morning, February 11, 2024, at Benton House in Blue Springs.
She was born on May 18, 1935, in Russellville, MO, the daughter of Henry and Freda (Raithel) Linsenbardt.
She was a 1953 graduate of Russellville High School.
On December 22, 1956, she was united in marriage to Lawrence Popp, who preceded her in death on January 11, 2011.
Laverne lived in the Jefferson City, MO area until married, and then after a brief stay in the state of California, she and Lawrence moved to Sedalia, MO where they raised their three children on a small farm. They also owned and operated an apple orchard on the farm (Popp’s Orchard). Laverne worked for many years in Sedalia at local banks, enjoying making friends with co-workers and customers alike. In retirement she moved back to Jefferson City, before moving to the Kansas City area to be close to her children.
She was a long-time member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sedalia, and then later, a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church-Honey Creek in Jefferson City. Laverne excelled in sewing and embroidery, doing this well into her 80s. Laverne loved cooking and is known for her “family famous” fried chicken, and apple pies. She loved reliving her farm roots and would happily say that she loved to “dig in the dirt.”

John and I send our sincere sympathy to you and your family, Mike.
Honey Creek is a lovely place to rest, even though your mother’s eternal resting place
is, of course, more beautiful.
