Leland Walton Smith, 72, of Jefferson City, died Monday, Feb. 13, 2006, at his residence. He was born on Nov. 2, 1933, in Sherman, TX, the son of Leland George and Hallie Will Walton Smith. Mr. Smith attended Washington Elementary School and Lincoln University Laboratory High School. He was employed with Lincoln University Food Service. He was a member of Quinn Chapel AME Church, Jefferson City. Survivors include one sister, Ann E. Smith, Chicago, IL; two brothers and their wives, Carl N. and Obera Smith, Jefferson City; and Ivan T. and Betty Smith, Kansas City, KS; four nieces, Phaedra Hardaway, Jefferson City; Pilar McKinney, Chicago, IL; Pari Smith, St. Louis, MO; and Alysia Williams, Nashville, TN; and three nephews, Carl N. Smith II, Jefferson City; Ivan Smith II, Gary, IN; and Brian Smith, Jersey City, NJ. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, 2006, at Quinn Chapel AME Church with the Rev. Freda Cash Bady officiating. Burial will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17th, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home.
