Leo Francis Prenger, 80, of Wardsville, died Tuesday, August 21, 2007, at St. Marys Health Center. He was born November 7, 1926, in Taos, the son of Albert H. and Caroline C. Forck Prenger. He was married on June 5, 1954, in Taos to Virginia Mae Rackers, who survives at the home. Mr. Prenger served in the U.S. Army during WWII with the Counter Intelligence Corps. He worked for the Missouri State Highway Patrol, where he received the rank of Sergeant, stationed in Moberly, Paris, and Macon. He retired from the patrol in 1986 after 31 years of service. On August 26, 1989, at the Macon Immaculate Conception Catholic Church he was ordained as a Deacon. He was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus in Macon, and involved with the Cursillo Movement and Teens Encounter Christ. Other survivors include five daughters, Beatrice Tress Prenger; Jacqueline Jackie (William) Stone, all of Jefferson City; Melanie (David) Runion, Bentonville, AK; Karen (Kevin) Welty, Washington, IL; Stephanie (Dean) Marshall, Frankford, MO; three sons, Timothy Prenger, Grapevine, Texas; Kenneth (Myrna) Prenger, St. Charles; Matthew Prenger, Callao, MO; two sisters, Rita Wolfe and Margaret Verslues, both of Jefferson City; 15 grandchildren; and 2 great-granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, Martha Prenger, Edna Prenger, Ann Billing, and his twin sister Leona Prenger, and three brothers, Anton Prenger, Raymond Prenger, and William Prenger. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday, August 25, 2007, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Burial will full military honors will be in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday Aug. 24, 2007, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:30. Additional visitation will be 9-10 a.m. Saturday at the Church.
