Lester Simon Chub Schulte, 91, of Jefferson City, died Thursday, September 28, 2006 at the Veterans Administration Home in Mexico, MO. He was born on October 5, 1914 in Jefferson City, the son of Joseph Christian and Emma Eveler Schulte. He was married on August 9, 1958 in Jefferson City, to Melissa Patrick Waggoner who survives at the home. Mr. Schulte served with the United States Army during World War II. He was a thirty-three year employee of the United States Postal Service where he served as a letter carrier. For ten years he worked with the Cole County Sheriffs office as a Process Server. In later years, he was employed with Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home. Mr. Schulte was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church where he was one of the first babies baptized in the church; he was a life time member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars Post # 1003; the American Legion; Knights of Columbus; Holy Name Society; and the Oliver Buehrle Chapter 17 of Disabled American Veterans. He loved playing with the Jefferson City Red Birds baseball team for many years. Other survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, John P. and Betty Rucker, Jefferson City; two grandchildren, John P. Rucker, Jr. and his wife, Deanna, and Rebecca L. Rucker; two great-grandchildren, Brett Rucker and Trevor Rucker; two step-great-grandchildren, Cody Cullinan and Courtney Cullinan; one brother and sister-in-law, Edgar Toots and Mary Schulte, Jefferson City. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Norbert Schulte, David Schulte, and Donald Schulte; one sister, Loretta Schulte; and one great-grandson, Keith Alan Rucker. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday, October 2, 2006, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. Patrick G. Dolan officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday, October 1, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Veterans Administration Home, 1 Veterans Lane, Mexico, MO 65265; Alzheimers Association, 1121 Business Loop 70E, Columbia, MO 65201; or the Special Learning Center, 1115 Fairgrounds Road, Jefferson City, MO 65109 Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
