Louis Henry Menges, 88, of Jefferson City, died Saturday, April 14, 2007 at St. Marys Health Center. He was born on April 30, 1918 in Wichita, KS, the son of Charles S. and Mary W. Erker Menges. He was married on Nov. 22, 1939 in Wichita, KS, to Julia Ellen Hughes who died on Oct. 24, 1999. Mr. Menges was a 1936 graduate of Cathedral High School in Wichita, KS. He was employed with the Union Pacific Railroad for over thirty-seven years as a conductor, retiring in 1978. Mr. Menges was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Holy Name Society, United Transportation Union Local 933, and NARVRE. Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, Jack and Sue Menges, Sedalia, Kenny and Carol Menges, Denny and Geneva Menges, Jim and Mary Menges, all of Jefferson City; three daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Alice and Bob Thater, Jefferson City, Kathleen and Frank Schonhardt, Hartsburg, and Jody and Dave Mumm, Springfield, MO; twenty-one grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and ten step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one great-grandson, Jacob Reynolds; one step-grandson, Kevin Bartolozzi; six brothers, John Menges, Fred Menges, August Menges, Julius Menges, Joseph Menges, and Leonard Menges; and three sisters, Mayme Bolen, Elizabeth Sheahan, and Josephine Downey. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 17, 2007, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. Patrick G. Dolan, officiating. Entombment will be in Resurrection Mausoleum. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday, April 16th, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 1206 E.
