Lucia Maria Rehagen

Lucia Maria Lucy Rehagen, 96, of Westphalia, died Monday, Jan. 5, 2004, at Westphalia Retirement Center. She was born on May 17, 1907 in Meta, the daughter of Adolph Hubert and Bernadine Kroll Herx. She was married on June 12, 1929 in Meta to Otto Conrad Rehagen who died on Oct. 17, 1968. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Walter and Theresa Rehagen; and Fred and Margaret Rehagen, all of Westphalia; three daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Frank, Wardsville; Evelyn and Robert Schulte, Argyle; and Helen and Leonard Sanning, Jefferson City; thirty-five grandchildren; eighty-six great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Marie Bellinghausen, Liberty. Mrs. Rehagen was preceded in death by her son, James Rehagen; a granddaughter, Stacie Rehagen; a great-grandson, Michael Frank; two sisters, Rosa Herx and Hilda McCall; two brothers, Clem Herx and Andrew Herx; and a son-in-law, Elmer J. Frank. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 9, 2004, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Westphalia, with the Rev. Robert A. Kurwicki officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Westphalia. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, 2004, at the church, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Additional visitation will be 8:30-9:30 a.m. Friday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, Westphalia. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Joseph Catholic School, POB 205, Westphalia, MO 65085; Alzheimer's Association, 1121 Business Loop 70 East, Columbia; MO 65201; or a charity of the donors choice. A homemaker, she was an accomplished seamstress and nanny in Jefferson City and Kansas City and prior to her marriage. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Westphalia; St. Anns Sodality and Quilting Circle; Westphalia Knights of Columbus Auxiliary 1171; Westphalia Historical Society; Osage County Democratic Club; Westphalia American Legion Post 544 Auxiliary; and Westphalia Senior Citizens Club.
