Margie Jane Martha (Buschjost) Struemph, 89, of Wardsville passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at Heisinger Bluffs shortly after receiving Last Rites by Rev. Msgr. David D. Cox.
Margie was born on May 17, 1937. A daughter to the late Joseph & Cecilia Anna (Kolb) Buschjost. She was raised on the Buschjost family dairy farm in Wardsville, Missouri. Margie graduated from St. Peter’s High School in 1955. She was united in marriage on October 3, 1959, to August “Gus” Struemph at St. Stanislaus Church. The couple was blessed with four sons and enjoyed 56 years of marriage.
Margie was employed by Central Bank Company for 27 years and looked forward to their Christmas party every year.
Margie was a devoted member of St. Stanislaus Parish all her life. She belonged to many church ministries including Adoration Chapel, Ladies Sodality, and Over 50 Club. She was also an active member of 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary St. Jude Assembly #1567.
Margie traveled across the United States and beyond. She and Gus took over 30 trips, including: Branson, Ireland, Rome, Hawaii and an Alaskan cruise. Margie never missed her morning prayers and prayed the rosary daily. In her spare time, Margie enjoyed making plum jelly and baking sugar cookies for her grandchildren. She tended to her flowers, played bingo with the Bingo Buddies, played in card club, and enjoyed watching sports, especially the St. Louis Cardinals and Missouri Tigers.
Margie loved attending family reunions, gatherings, and anytime she could be surrounded by her family. She appreciated those close friends and family that helped care for her in her later years, especially her kind neighbor Donna Halbrook. She was grateful for the opportunity to view mass on EWTN when she was unable to make it to church and would reminisce about her and Gus dancing while watching music shows on television.
Margie was a proud breast cancer survivor and supported Relay for Life each year. She was dedicated to her health and exercised daily. Margie eventually succumbed to MDS cancer after a two-year courageous battle.
Margie is survived by one son, Darius Struemph (friend, Chelle Shepard) of Jefferson City; many grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Margie knew more heartache than one person deserved as she was preceded in death by her husband, Gus; three sons: Rene Struemph, Gary Struemph, and Marcel Struemph; Grandson, Kyle Struemph; her three brothers and their wives: Victor and Marie Buschjost, Leroy and Betty Jean Buschjost, and Leonard and Julie Buschjost; one sister and her husband: Gladys and Bernard Lehman; and several nieces and nephews.

I know LaVerne loved her “Aunt Margie!” (And I didn’t realize how much she favored Gladys!) Sending hugs and prayers to all!
Margie was a beautiful woman I was privileged to have known through the St. Jude’s Assembly Knights of Columbus Auxiliary. She had a genuine smile and kind word for everyone. I know she is peacefully resting in the Hands of her Savior. May God comfort her family.
Katie, my deepest sympathy to you and your family. May she rest in peace.
