Marianne Elizabeth Crawford, 76, of Jefferson City, died Friday, May 6, 2005, at Oak Tree Villas. She was born on June 11, 1928 in Milan, MO, the daughter of James Noel and Anna Berniece Pyle Moffett. She was married on Dec. 26, 1954 in Memphis, TN, to Jack Proctor Crawford who died on Nov. 1, 1994. A 1946 graduate of Dexter (MO) High School, she earned an Associate of Arts degree in music from Christian College, Columbia, MO, in 1948, and a Bachelor of Science degree in music education from the University of Missouri in 1952. She taught choral music in grades 1-12 at Farber, MO, from 1950 to 1951; held a Civil Service Position in Honolulu, Hawaii; and worked at a savings and loan in Memphis. After moving to California, MO, in 1954, she worked with her husband in the familys weekly newspaper, The California Democrat, until it was sold in 1979. She was a member of First Baptist Church in California, and was attending First United Methodist Church, Jefferson City, at the time of her death. Mrs. Crawford moved to Jefferson City in 1995 following the death of her husband. She was a member of Learning in Retirement, Inc,; Chapter BW of P.E.O.; X Club; Tuesday Friends; and several bridge clubs. She is survived by two children and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother, Dr. James B. Moffett, Crown Point, IN, who died on March 13, 2005. Private family services will be held at a later date.
