Mark Blaine Gabriel, 60, of Jefferson City, passed away Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born November 5, 1963, in Alton, Illinois, the son of James Ernst and Nancy Lucille (Bushnell) Gabriel.

Mark was a 1981 graduate of Alton Senior High School. He also attended Lewis & Clark Community College.

Mark was united in marriage on September 11, 1982, in Alton, Illinois to Kathleen Lynn “Kathy” Belcher who survives at the home.

Mark worked for Ameren as a Gas Service Worker and retired in October 2019 after 27 years. He also worked for Pensacola Christian College for a few years as a plumber and enjoyed working with the students.

Mark was a devout Christian and faithfully studied the Bible, striving to be like Christ. He enjoyed spending time with family, fishing, time outdoors, gardening and sharing vegetables from his garden.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy; children, Luke Gabriel (Cara Dement), Jefferson City, Sarah (Thad) Beeler, Ashland, and Paul Gabriel, Jefferson City; his mother, Nancy Gabriel; two grandchildren, Ethan Gabriel, Burkburnett, TX and Avery Beeler, Ashland; and siblings, Kim (Chuck) Pierce, Gerald MO, and David (Deborah) Gabriel, Fosterburg, Il.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Gabriel and sister, Cindy Rice.

Visitation will be from 12 noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, February 10, 2024, at Trimble Funeral Homes in Jefferson City, followed by a Funeral Service at 2 p.m. with Pastor Chuck Pierce officiating.

Burial will be in Longview Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society.

  1. Mark was one of the most sweet, upstanding young men I have ever know! I am deeply saddened at the news of his passing! I can I only say I rejoice with his family in knowing he is safe in the arms of Jesus with his sister and dad. He will welcome me and the remainder of his family one day, as we join him♥️
