Marty was a true example of what it is to be a Christian. I am so happy to have known her, and I will always cherish the memories we shared playing praise music. Marty had a gift for singing beautiful harmonies. She was an inspiration for us all, and she will be sorely missed. I look forward to meeting again.
Marty was a beautiful, kind, genuine, and loving person, both inside and out. I am blessed to have had the pleasure of knowing and working with her. She was an angel in disguise. No matter what was going on in her own personal life she always took the time to make sure everyone around her was ok. She always had words of encouragement and she had a way to make you smile whether you wanted to or not. Her face, her smile, her warm embrace, her words, her prayers, her wits, and her just being her will be missed tremendously. Marty was full of love and she spread love with everyone everywhere she went. My heart and prayers go out to her family. Remember the good times and let God comfort and keep you. Jackie White
Marty was a true servant of the Lord. I learned so much from her about faith, and perseverance, and grace. I wish I had met her sooner in life. John, you have my deepest condolences.
I first met Marty at work and soon thereafter she became a good friend. Her faith and devotion to others was evident in our first and last conversations. Her upbeat spirit and remembering her kind heart will remain with me always. Our American Cancer Society Cole County Relay for Life Team 2019-Anchors & Oars-was led by Marty. My deepest condolences to John, Mindy, and the rest of Marty’s family and friends. She will be greatly missed and never forgotten. Until I see you on the other side, sweet Marty. -Laura Tinnin Lewis
Marty was a mentor to many and always made time to listen. I don’t know if I’ve ever met a more joyful person! Through all of her treatments, she fought hard and continued to serve others. Marty was everything Jesus wanted her to be and she inspired me to be closer to Him. She will be dearly missed at Wesley. She was our good will ambassador, welcoming all and our faithful singer, who would share her beautiful voice with us every Sunday. “Well done, good and faithful servant”. I’m sure there is singing as she is welcomed into Jesus’ arms! My deepest sympathy to John & all of her family.
Heart in memory of Martha Ann “Marty” Spann
Marty was such a good friend there were many instances but I would like to mention two the first one was when I first came to Wesley in 2017 Marty was in the praise band one of their numbers she took me by the hand and we dance the second I Was having troubled with a certain anthem and she helped me attain the right notes.I will always remember Marty she was an outstanding human being
Marty lit up any room she entered. She was a prayer warrior for children from hard places and a strong believer in investing in children. She will be dearly missed by everyone at Coyote Hill.
My heart is heavy today to read of Marty’s passing. And also filled with delight for her! She was such an inspiration to me. My deepest condolences to you, John. I know she is well loved and will be deeply missed. Prayers for you for the days ahead.
Marty was such a beautiful person both inside and out. We have lost one of our angles and heaven has gained. She’ll be missed by all.
Marty is now at peace. I know the good old Lord will take care of her until we can meet again. She was a very special lady and I have many memories of her at the parades with the Lancers.
Marty was one of the most special people I’ve ever known. Even with all that she went through, she always seemed positive and joyful – the heart of a true Christian. She set an example for me and everyone who knew her. She exemplified the way Jesus would want us all to shine for Him. Marty’s example will live with me forever. John, you have my deepest sympathy; but we all know where Marty is today.
Marty was a truly amazing lady. Always positive yet realistic and always devoted to her faith as a Christian and the missions she helped with. A beautiful soul is now in Heaven, but I am so grateful I was able to get to know her through Wesley. Her faith was a true inspiration. Prayers for the family.
Marty had a true servants heart and I had the privilege to work and pray side by side with her at many Emmaus events. I can just imagine the reception she received when she walked through the gates of heaven! I am so sorry for your families loss. I pray you find some comfort in the stories that will be shared about Marty, some you may know and some that may be a surprise to you but I’m sure all of them will be a blessing. Fly high my friend, until we meet again. Love Karen LaBrot
I taught at Fairmount when Marty was there teaching 5th grade. You could see that she loved working with her students and watching them grow each year. She touched a lot of lives during her career! John, you have my deepest condolences. Melinda(Baker) Williams
John and Family, our deepest sympathy to you on the passing of Marty. She was a wonderful person who not only supported us at the Shrine, but always welcomed us and made us feel welcome to Lancer events. Marty was a loving and devoted Christian woman and we will miss her. Jeannie and John Smith
I worked with Marty at Central and Fairmount Elementary schools. She was always kind, friendly, and helpful. She was especially Helpful to me when I was in college doing my pre-student teaching in her classroom. John, I am sorry for your loss.
Remembering the magical moments shared with our dear friend. Keeping her family in our hearts and thoughts.
She keeps the gift of years before. A hand that can be clasped no more. You’ll find no place that does not breath some gracious memory of her lore.
Wishing you peace to bring comfort, courage to face the days ahead and loving memories to forever hold in your hearts.
I’ll miss singing in the Praise Band with Marty. But I know she’s in heaven still singing and it must be beautiful.
With Love and Many Fond Memories
Thinking of your family and remembering the wonderful times we had with Marty. Hugs and prayers, Robbie, Lauren and Ada Tucker; Rob and Jan
Mrs. Spann was my 5th grade teacher at Fairmount Elementary. I joined Job’s Daughters that year, and her husband was a Shriner. I am now in Eastern Star with some of my former teachers.
Not only did I get to know Marty through our time together serving in Wesley’s Praise Band, but she also tutored our oldest daughter, Sydney. Sydney adored her time with Marty, as Marty made leaning joyful! She always reminded Sydney how intelligent she was and lifted her up every time she saw her! Marty was a true and faithful servant. She is now living her eternal life that she had prepared for each and every day here on earth! John and family, we send our love and prayers to you in this most difficult time. Love, Phil, Shelly, Sydney and Mia Wehmeyer
Marty was so special to us! She always cared for others more than herself. Our love and prayers are with John, Mindy, Jarrett and all of Marty’s family and friends. Love, Marie and Maurice
I had only known Marty for a few years, being the husband of an adopted “NUT.” But from the very first time I met her, it was easy to see that she was kind, caring, compassionate, and loving in so many ways. The way the other “Nuts” talked about her was always in the fondest of terms. In getting to know her a little more in recent years, it was evident that she was a follower of Jesus, and her demeanor and attitude always reflected Him. My life was made much richer just by the small amount of time I got to spend with her and John. If my tangential relationship with her meant that much to me, I can’t imagine how powerfully her relatives and close friends’ lives were impacted. I thank God for her, and her life well-lived, and look forward to catching up with her some day in heaven. May God bless those she temporarily left behind, and may all of us follow her path.
Marty & Fairmount were important parts of my early teaching career. She touched the lives of all in our family. We are so sorry for your loss John
John, Our love and prayers are with you and your family. Marty showed my family kindness and love and we will hold those memories forever.
Our hearts go out to John and the family. Marty truly had a servant’s heart. Marty and Donna Bondurant
