Marvin Rademan, 73, of Jefferson City passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at Capital Region Medical Center.

He was born January 8, 1950 in Jefferson City to the late Arthur and Loretta (Pope) Rademan.  Marvin graduated from high school at St. Thomas Aquinas Seminary in Hannibal, Mo.  He continued his education at Our Lady of Angels Franciscan Seminary in Quincy, Il., achieving a Bachelor of Arts degree in History.  Marvin was an antique hunter, specializing in wood furniture, figurines of any type but especially birds and animals.  He was a master woodworker and could fix, match, and refinish any style of furniture. Oftentimes he would donate different pieces to help fund Habitat for Humanity.  Marvin would travel from Illinois to Texas and all stops in between to shop antiques and attend auctions.  His passion led him to open up his own business, Grumpy’s Antiques in Cedar City.  After the 1993 flood, he moved his business to the family farm in the Wardsville area. Marvin also worked for a number of years as a clerk for Moffett Auction Service. If Marvin wasn’t in the shop, you could find him hunting mushrooms, blackberries, watching and feeding the birds, or enjoying beautiful sunsets.   Marvin was a kind and generous man who would help anyone in need.  He will be sadly missed.

Survivors include his brother, Kenneth (Cecilia) Rademan of Koeltztown, nieces and nephews, Cindy (Ron) Thomas of Spearville, KS, Michael (Stacey) Rademan of Koeltztown, Wayne (Melinda) Rademan of Koeltztown, Becky (Adam) Frankenbach of Wardsville, Monica (Cory) Nilges of Taos, Chris Rademan of Koeltztown, numerous cousins and extended family.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Monday, January 23, 2023 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Wardsville.  The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Msgr. David Cox officiating.  Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to St. Stanislaus Catholic School or Habitat for Humanity.
